SEO Definitions, SEO Tips

Google Sandbox. This is a conceptual Black hole that Google puts you in when a new site is launched.

I dont believe it officially exists but everyone acknowledges its existance. Essentially it doesnt matter how relevent your site is, if it is a new site Google wont place you high in their search results for some weeks or months or even longer depending on the site.

They will put you in the sandbox and gradually as you get links from various sources and your site starts to age they will start to increase your rankings.]

The theory behind the Sandbox is to stop Search Engine spammers from creating fabulously optimised pages (it doesnt, the really good guys have numerous examples of beating the Sandbox) and then filling up all the top serps with Spam sites.

Google figures it will make it harder for them to be successful and so less will do it. What this means for you is that it might take a little bit of time to see your new site start to rank in Google and that assuming you have done all on page SEO work right, you need to be patient and your site will eventually start to come up the rankings.

Logically it makes sense, if you have had a site for 10 years on the frontal lobotomies, it makes sense that you have been talking about it for longer and reasonably might be more of an expert or authority than a site launched last week and so they will weight their search results towards the long standing authority site than the johny come lately site.
